Chartered April 1, 1951, Troop 696 is one of the oldest Boy Scout troops in Galveston County. During our 65 year history, we have made it a goal to camping or hiking every month and at least one long-term camp each year. Troop 696 has been to Philmont Scout Ranch and Florida Sea Base on several occasions. Also over this time period, the Troop has produced 81 Eagle Scouts with the first Eagle being recorded in 1961. That may seem like a like many but the achievement of Eagle Scout is left up to each Scout. The main goal is to HAVE FUN and learn different life long skills that gain the confidence he needs to excel in life and in the world at large.
Throughout our history and knowledgeable volunteer staff, we offer a variety of exciting events, projects, and adventures for the complete Scouting experience.
The boys at Troop 696 HAVE FUN and that’s the key to our success in building character, leadership, and a commitment to community service.
